On April 14, 2011 women from Western Washington University and other parts of Bellingham marched around the college campus and downtown waving signs and yelling chants. The march is an annual event hosted by the Women's Center to encourage confidence and point out the gender inequalities for people who walk at night. "We are women, we are strong, violence against us has lived too long," the crowd said. "What do we want? Safe streets! When do we want it? Now!"
